Pinjarra Mixed Pairs Championship 2022-2023
On Sunday 11th of December saw the Mixed Pairs finals played. In the 1st Semi-Final a brilliant combined team effort saw Bill Rogers and Anne Carter easily account for Colin White and Barbara Windsor. The 2nd Semi-Final was much closer, coming down to the last bowl with Bruce Greene and Phyllis Morrison holding a 2 shot lead heading into the final end, but Peter Cole (Brad Ball’s substitute) and Jacquie Bond found themselves a clear 2 shots up plus a favourable measure. With the final bowl, under pressure Bruce Greene produced a brilliant bowl to get themselves through to the Final.
The much anticipated Final was somewhat of an anti-climax with Phyllis Morrison taking complete control, turning back the clock to her Commonwealth Games days and putting on an amazing exhibition of lead bowls and wowing the small crowd which proved to be the difference. Rogers and Carter tried valiantly but with Morrison consistently on the jack there was nothing they could do but watch in amazement. Skipper, Bruce Greene had an armchair ride in the final, sitting back with a few VB Stubbies and just shaking his head at the consistency showed by his partner.
Thankyou to all players who competed over the 2 days.
