Pinjarra Awarded 2023 Country Club of the Year

On Friday 2 June, Pinjarra was thrilled to be awarded 2022-2023 Country Club of the Year, at the Bowls WA Awards Night, held at Optus Stadium. This is a true testament and recognition for the hard work and dedication by our members and volunteers in the running of our wonderful club.

The evening recognised metropolitan and country clubs, individual bowling achievements, life members and bowlers of the year.

There was strong competition with six country club finalists in the running for this award, all very worthy and working to continually improve facilities and provide a social, inclusive meeting place for all ages within our communities.

Over the last 12 months the Pinjarra Bowling & Recreation Club has had a very successful season, with the Men’s and Ladies Pennants teams being successful flag winners and gaining promotion next year. Our men have also had great success in League, State and Country Week events.

We have undertaken a number of projects and programs, with the completion of a second new sand filled synthetic bowling Green, LED lighting installation, a new limestone boundary wall with seating and introduced a successful Junior Bowls Program, supported by the Bowls WA Club Grants.

Pinjarra celebrated their 73rd Anniversary event, as the oldest club in the Murray District Bowling League. We have doubled our community and social bowling events, offering families, working people and business’s Barefoot Bowls and Jack Attack events; conducted school bowls for primary and high school children as well as for students with special needs and Local Business & Sporting Club Challenge event.

As a club we work closely with the Shire of Murray and local politicians on collaborative projects and initiatives to support sporting & recreational development in the region and have an ongoing commitment to provide quality sport and leisure facilities for our members and the community.

Being awarded Country Club of the Year is a great achievement for our small but progressive club and our members are incredibly proud and honoured.
